African-German Virtual Academy (AGVA) is part of Flensburg University of Applied Sciences, a university in Northern Germany at the border to Denmark which roots date back to 1852 when the Royal Danish School for Navigation was founded. This lay the foundation for what is a firm part of the identity still today and shaped the university, the degree programmes and research activities: the broad range of fields we teach and research in Flensburg include information and comunication technology, business, engineering, maritime technologies, energy as well as biotechnology.
Our professors and teaching staff are very accessible for our 4000 students on the beautiful and green Flensburg campus – even outside class. All of our professors have a track record of working in industry; our students benefit from this real-life work experience in application-oriented classes equipping them with what they need for a successful future. As a university of applied sciences these roots in application and industry are a relevant part of our identity and they stretch out into studies and teaching as well as into study and research projects.
AGVA is based on these virtues and is rooted in the study courses offered by the university. AGVA offers courses in Information Systems for African students via e-learning and fosters intercultural exchange between African and Germany students, thus preparing its students for successful careers in Germany and around the world. The study programmes are designed to best suit your strengths, interests and career plans. You will have the opportunity to gain the skills you need to grow as a professional and earn the credentials you need to make a positive change. No matter which of our programmes you choose, you will be taught by professors and lecturers with considerable working experience in the industry. So our teaching staff will not only guide you through the theoretical aspects of their fields of expertise, but also share their real life working experience with you.
The Virtual Academy decentralized its education style with an online platform that allows students to access online lectures round the clock giving you the flexibility of learning at your own pace. You can study single courses or a full program. All relevant initiatives and courses are assessed and taken from of the regular curriculum at Flensburg. At the moment we focus on Business Intelligence and Information.
