Semester Abroad in Flensburg

Flensburg, 15/03/2017: Maria Amupolo, exchange student from Namibia, talks about her experience spending one semester in Flensburg with a DAAD scholarship.

Maria Amupolo, Jesaya Mwandingi, Pombili Nghihalwa and Paavo Uutako are 4 exchange students from the Namibian University of Science and Technology (NUST) who got the chance to spend one semester in Flensburg studying logistics with the support of a scholarship from the DAAD and the Namibian German Centre for Logistics (NGCL). Here Maria tells us about her experience in Germany.

PEESA II – Student Exchange

Vanderbijlpark (South Africa), 04/03/2017: The programme PEESA II of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) successfully conducted a student exchange with students from universities in Namibia (NUST), South Africa (TUT, VUT, CPUT) and Germany (HS Flensburg and HS Wismar). The programme consisted of a research on the topic of energy efficiency in which the students closely worked together and, at the same time, of a competition in which the students competed.

German-African Business Summit (GABS)

Nairobi, 08/02 – 10/02/2017: Prof. Pfaffenberger joined this year’s German-African Business Summit (GABS), held in Nairobi from February 08th-10th.

New contacts and many interesting discussions with e.g. representatives from DAAD and the German Department for Foreign Affairs were the outcome of his participation. One achievement was the signing of a memory of understanding for the establishment of an East African-German University of Applied Science with contribution of the Centre for Business and Technology in Africa (CBTA).

This year’s award in the category of “Innovation for Development” was given to GreenTec Capital Partners, represented by Thomas Festerling and Erik Yong (2nd picture). The CBTA congratulates both Thomas Festerling and Erik Yong on the award and highly appreciates the close collaboration with them. PEESA II Kick-off meeting

Capetown, 01/02/2017: PEESA II kick-off meeting took place in Capetown. A network of universities from Namibia, South Africa and Germany discussed about measures and activities to increase the number of high qualified experts in the renewable energy sector and the quality of the education in universities in southern Africa. The goal of the second phase is to implement different Master programmes at each university and to integrate E-Learning methods in order to make contents available for all students within the network of PEESA II.

Innovative online course “Enterprise Architecture“ is launched

Douala/Cameroon, 14/11/2016: Today the kick-off meeting for the “Enterprise Architecture“ master course was joined by 17 master students from the “Institut de Technologie et de Management (ITM)”. The students were connected to Professor Schmidt in Flensburg via Webinar.

The Online course is structured in three parts (Reposity/Self-Test, selection of documentation methods/tools, Case Study) and will claim about 150h per student. The course will end on the 20th of march. Professor Schmidt is mentoring the course online with the use of multimedia/interactive E-Learning methods.
